Swatch & Review: Glisten & Glow – 1950’s Nostalgia Collection

Did you know that in the early 1950s the price of a new car was around $1500, a one carat diamond ring sold for $399 and cheese was $.45/lb? Neither did I! During the 1950s one would hear Elvis Presley on the radio and watch I Love Lucy on the tv. In 1959, Alaska and Hawaii were made the 49th and 50th US States.

A lot happened in the 50s that helped shape the world we live in today and today’s collection from Glisten & Glow is an ode to that time. Jill focused on one area in particular as inspiration for the upcoming 5-piece crème collection…. Appliances! From Doo-Wop to Route 66,  these polishes are synonymous with the decade.

If you missed my live IG swatch, watermarble and stamp action with this collection, check it out here!

Now let’s take a look at the 1950’s Nostalgia Collection… ya dig!

Overall Thoughts – Glisten & Glow – 1950’s Nostalgia Collection

Formula / Application: effortless! In 1 easy coat, polishes are perfectly opaque but I applied 2 to level then out just a bit. The formula is a dream to work with and dries quick. I no problems with dragging or pooling as the formula is ideal for crèmes.

Opacity: swatches shown in 2 coats

Price: $40/collection or $8.50/each

Availability: Thursday, Aug. 31st @ 9pm et

Overall: G&G are some of the best crèmes on the market. They hit the nail addict trifecta with 5 gold stars and the price point for the entire collection is suitable of every budget.

There are perks to being a fan group member including being able to participate in exclusive giveaways. In honor of becoming a first-time grandma, fellow member and friend, Doris worked with Jill to create a custom polish that was given out as baby shower favors. Well….as luck would have it, a few extra bottles made their way to a giveaway and I was one of the lucky winners. While this polish is not available for sale, I still wanted to show off how amazing Jill is and to again congratulate Doris on her new addition to the family.

It’s A Boy is a stunning periwinkle with holo and micro glitter.

When I tell you Jill is far to kind, I mean that her generosity is unfathomable. In addition to the goodies above, Jill also sent me some of her current and upcoming nail care and nail art products. I received:

Base Coat – sticky, long-lasting, stain preventing base coat

Crtl-Atl-Delete – latex barrier w/ an aromatic, light scent

Ridge Filling Base Coat – Ridge Relief from uneven nail surfaces1503143979167-1

Top Coat – clear, shiny and fast drying (fka HK Girl)
