Happy humpday fellow polish addicts! I’m super bummed that I’ll be missing Polish Con next week but uber stoked about today’s swatch & review because I get to show you 3 stunning polishes from Great Lakes Lacquer (GLL). Not just any GLL polishes but Polish Con polishes. Mariah has created two ah-mazing polishes that will be launched that evening along with an exclusive. But before I get too far ahead of myself, you may be asking yourself, “what is Polish Con?” So let me fill you in. It’s an event that has been in the making for over a year coordinated by none other than Mariah and the ladies from Ever After Polish, Rachel and Miranda. The amazing event is where indie polish makers, swatchers, bloggers and nail polish addicts meet and buy amazing polish(es). Great Lakes Lacquer is one of the many awesome indie polish brands that will be a vendor at the event. It is going to be held next weekend, September 17th, 2016 in Chicago on from 4-8pm, with VIP access starting at 3pm

GLL’s fall collection, a Nude Awakening, consists of four polishes and will debut at Polish Con. They will then be available for purchase in the shop on the 21st at 3 PM EST. Also debuting with them will be the two event inspired polishes, Leaves In The Lake and Leaves In The Sand and a Polish Con EXCLUSIVE, Fallen For Flake. The latter 3 polishes are what I have for you today.

*All swatches doen over Commitment Issues Peel-Off Base Coat by Vapid Lacquer and topped with Quici Dry, High Gloss Top Coat by Pro-FX. Photos with 3 coats and are taken under artificial lights.*

Leaves In The Lake

Leaves In The Lake: A navy blue jelly packed gold to bronze to red to fuchsia purple to green shifting flake.

 Leaves In The Sand

Leaves In The Sand: A candy apple to burgundy thermal packed with gold and pink shimmer.

Fallen For Flake

Fallen For Flake: A violet jelly filled with orange to gold flake, multichrome flake that ranges from violet to orange to red to gold and a pink to bronze shifting shimmer.

Overall, I think Mariah did a fabulous job with these polishes and I appreciate her bringing a little bit of Polish Con to those of us that can’t make it. The formulas on these polishes are great, apply without issue and there is no fishing for glitters or flakies.

Immediately, I thought Leaves in the Lake was the front runner for me out on this bunch but as soon as I applied Leaves In The Sand I was floored by its beauty. This caught me off guard because I tend to steer away from thermals but I loooove this polish in both its cool and warm state. I can see my self using this polish a lot during the fall, I think it would pair well with a mug of hot apple cider and a hayride. FYI…I love this time of the year, fall is my favorite season.

Again, A Nude Awakening along with the two event inspired polishes, Leaves In The Lake and Leaves In The Sand will then be available for purchase in the shop on September 21st at 3 PM EST. Polish Con EXCLUSIVE, Fallen For Flake, will NOT be available in the shop.

Rachel’s Rainbow Box

PRESS SAMPLE NOTICE***Press (PR) Samples. This post contains polishes that were sent to be from the company/brand in exchange for an honest review, All opinions stated are my own. For additional info regarding PR samples, click here ***

“When it looked like the sun wasn’t going to shine any more, there’s a rainbow in the clouds.” – Maya Angelou

Happy Monday folks and Happy Labor Day! I know most of you are off from work/school, enjoying your long weekend and for many of us, the “unofficial end of summer.” If you’re like me, you probably enjoyed time with family, a good barbeque and time at the pool. But that is not the case for everyone. Some have family, friends and loved-ones that are fighting for their life and need support. That is the case of our very own, Stephanie of SoMuchGoodness. Many of you may know the story but for those that don’t, Stephanie’s niece, Rachel (pictured above) is a beautiful, 20 year old young lady who loves Scooby Doo, the color blue, her cat, Buffy, horror flicks, classic rock, adult coloring books, comfy clothes and always full of smiles.

Rachel is currently in the hospital battling for her life. On June 14, 2016, Rachel was admitted to the hospital with sepsis, endocarditis (infection of the heart valve) and septic emboli in her lungs from a staph infection. Rachel’s mom/Stephanie’s sister, Rebecca has been there with her daughter every step of the way and has exhausted all of her paid time off from work never to leave her daughters side. As you can imagine, bills and hospital costs are piling up.

Going through difficult times is stressful but to know you have physical, emotional and  financial support is HUGE! Even the smallest gesture helps in the biggest way and when people step in to help, it’s nothing short of a blessing. That’s exactly what Mandy Wynder, creator of FB group Substance Abuse Awareness and Polish did. Mandy stepped in to spearhead Rachel’s Rainbow Box and in less than a months time, she created the planning group, organized the makers and gathered the swatchers/bloggers. This box is so important, because it gives Love, Hope, Perserverance, Joy, Courage, Power, Valor and Strength to those who need it most.

Swatch & Review: Bad Bitch Polish – Northern Hemisphere

PRESS SAMPLE NOTICE***Press (PR) Samples. This post contains polishes that were sent to be from the company/brand in exchange for an honest review, All opinions stated are my own. For additional info regarding PR samples, click here ***

It’s the first post of September and living in Maryland, September means the beginning of all things Fall! I’m ready for PSL and smores over a bonfire, but the way our weather is set up, we are still experiencing summer like temperatures here in the mid-atlantic. That won’t stop me though from pulling out and dusting off my sweats and hoodies because the first official day of Fall is September 22. Bring on the cool, fall mornings and color changing leaves, I love it. Want to know what I am going to love most this year? I’ll be able to sport the new Northern Hemisphere Collection by Bad Bitch Polish.

This collection is a 2 parter. This first set, I’ll be showing you today is the Northern Hemisphere Collection. These 6 crèmes shades are semi-traditional fall colors and the Southern Hemisphere Collection, set to release in October, are also all crèmes and will focus on the kind of weather our friends in the south experience while we’re in the middle of fall.

We have a lot ground to cover, so let’s get to the swatches!

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issues Peel Off Base Coat by Vapid and topped with Quick Dry, High Gloss Top Coat by Pro-Fx. Photos are taken in artificial lights**

Northern Hemisphere

Color Me Carmine

Color Me Carmine is a rich pink leaning red. Pink is my favorite color and everything I buy is pink. This color reminds of a scarf and hat set I had a few back.

Spruce Up Your Nails

Spruce Up Your Nails is a gorgeous green, just like the Spruce trees seen throughout the northern regions this time of year. Applies like a crelly but builds up to a creme. Shown here in 3 coats.

Orchid You Not

Orchid You Not is the perfect shade of purple for this time of year. Its calm and cool just like fall mornings.

Satin Sheets

Satin Sheets is a smooth gray and reminds me of an early, foggy fall morning.

 Electric Tangerine

Electric Tangerine – the name describes this color to the ‘t’. Its a beautiful, bright, vibrant tangerine color. Reminds me of pumpkins and afternoon hayrides.

Stop the Violets

Stop the Violets, again, another shade perfectly described by its name. This is a gorgeous, bold violet.

Overall, I really like this collection. All the colors are represented well through their names and these are definitely colors you would see during the fall season. The polishes were very easy to work with and apply effortlessly. The formulas are phenomenal and completely opaque in 2-3 coats. I know these will be gorgeous with a little “fall themed” nail art but look great all on their own. Did any of these colors bring back memories for you?

The Northern Hemisphere Collection will be releasing Friday, September 9th and will be $9.50/each or $54/set. Minis will be available but in limited quantities for $4.50/each or $25/set.
