Happy FriYAY folks and welcome to August…I know it’s the 5th, but better late than never, right?! We are now more than halfway through 2016 and what’s amazing to me is that I am still being introduced to “New To Me” indie brands. I think it is amazing that so many new brands are officially launching their businesses because that means more indies to love for you and I.

Today, I have the opportunity to bring you 2 purple polishes. Who doesn’t love purple, right? Both are from newly launched, U.S. based indie brands. We’ll call this, “The Battle of the Purples Polishes!”

In the purple corner, hailing from New Orleans, LA, we have Love Lacquer!!!!
When I saw swatches pop up on my IG, I just knew I had to find out more about this brand because of my love for the BIG EASY! Love Lacquer is 7 free, cruelty free, gluten free and vegan. Each polish is formulated with lavender essential oil to nourish the nail plate while leaving a pleasant, lingering lavender scent. This polish and many other colors and products are available now in the store starting at $5.

**Application Notes: Polish applied w/ 3 coats w/o base and top coat and photos were taken with artificial lighting**

Royal is a deep purple shimmer from the ‘Krewe du Rue’ Collection.

In the shimmer corner, representing Detroit, MI, is Pretty in Glam!!!
This brand caught my eye on IG too with its cute bottles which my girls,9 and 4, love. Pretty in Glam is a trendy brand created by Ashley Briana and is vegan friendly and 5 free. With its recent launch of 6/3/2016, Pretty in Glam is new but mighty with 25 polishes in its lineup including a matte top coat which are available now in the store for only $8.

Lyric is a medium purple shimmer with silver holo glitter.

Overall, I was a little skeptical with both polishes after applying the first coat because they both applied very sheer. Immediately thought I would need a million coats for these polishes to be completely opaque. However, after 3 thin, easy to apply coats, both polishes built up well and dry quick. The formula of these polishes is good and easy to work with. You can see Love Lacquer dries with more of a dull finish so a high shine TC is recommended. Pretty in Glam dries with a semi-shine and a TC would help seal it in and add to its shine. I can smell the lavender in the Love Lacquer which is an added treat and while Pretty in Glam, doesn’t have that, it wouldn’t stop me from buying this brand. Both brands have super fast shipping and their customer service is great. I look forward to what these brands produce in the future!
